Arizona Part2

Well we are back from our trip up to the grand canyon and had lots of fun. On the drive up we stopped at an African Wildlife Park which was in my opinion a waste of money but we wouldn't have known until we tried it so... We stayed in Williams, AZ.

The next morning we got up to catch the train from Williams to the Grand Canyon. That was lots of fun and I recommend it. Much more enjoyable than being strapped in a car. There was a staged gun show before hand, entertainment on the train, lots of people were drinking (yes at 9am) and the boys got toy trains (courtesy of Darren and myself). We get on the train get seated and alex asks "when will we be at the hole?" I about died, as did the people in the seats next to us. Who knew that the grand canyon was nothing more than the hole? At the grand canyon we hiked down about a mile??? Maybe less, then hiked up. It took about an hour and a half. We walked around the rim, ate and then hopped back on the train home. On the ride back there was a staged robbery where some of the performers where riding horses along the train, the train pulled over and we got "robbed" but this freaked out Ian. After much explaining that this was just pretend Daniel got upset by the people pretendig to be scared and yelling. Alex stuck his hands up in the air every time they walked through the car and gave them whatever he was holding, including the penny he was playing with.

Yesterday we started our drive back and stopped in Sedona. THat was lots of fun, highly recommend it. We hiked around and got back to Cindy's in time for dinner.

Today we are going to play golf, go to the park and tonight we are going to a western style dinner and show. I'll let you know how it goes.

You're definitely doing a lot more than we do when we go to Arizona. We mostly hang around the pool and swim! We choose one museum each time we go and have been to a few and liked them. We'll try to get to the grand canyon next time. How long was the drive?

We've heard Sedona is beautiful. We'll have to get there soon. A family we're close friends with was in Sedona this week/weekend. Maybe you were in the same place. A family with 2 older boys, a 5th grade boy, a 3rd grade girl and a big fluffy labradoodle named Harley. You didn't happen to meet them, did you? :)

Which dinner theater thing is it? We've thought about going to one but never made it...

We leave tomorrow for Illinois. I'll let you know what we think of it when we get back. It's such a huge decision for us. You seem to take picking up and moving more in stride than us. maybe because our kids are older? or maybe because we've never lived anywhere else? or maybe we're just weird and resistant to change!

Talk about the whistles-n-bells! You guys are going all out. I love the idea of the "train robbery." It is so good to hear that you all are having such a fun family vacation!
