Daniel's Birthday Party

Now I will overwhelm you with photos. These are the best of the best. Yes there were MANY more of them.

This party had the theme "Messy Party" It was really fun. Although I originally had plans that involved lots of paint and pools filled with spaghetti, the kids thought this was really fun too. It involved less work for me before the party and I could just relax and enjoy during the party.

We had tables set up for play-doh

Here is Jill (Daniel's wife), her daughter Renee, Miriam and Ian playing with play-doh

We had tables of goo (or glurch or flubber, whatever you want to call it)
Ian had the bright idea, just shortly after this photo was taken, to put it in his hair. Now know that this is made with GLUE so imagine the difficulty in getting it out of his hair.

(You can click on the pictures for larger images) Cyndy and her son Taylor playing with the goo.
This is a horrible photo of me, but I wanted to prove I was there.
Here is Taylor trying to figure out "What the heck is this stuff"

As a side note, my mother (who has the mental maturity of a 5 yr. old boy) thought it was hysterical to pretend she was sneezing this stuff out her nose. I will admit to you all that it was really funny, but in front of my kids I am an adult and it was disgusting!
Here is my mom with Daniel
Alex spent a large portion of the day climbing the tree

We had a sandbox filled with sand toys
Cyndy, Daniel, Taylor and Tim
Sweet Renee with her Laura Ingles hair. Can you believe she wore that dress to a "messy party" Thank god I didn't do paint!
Taylor and Daniel
Bernie and Esther drove down from New Braunfels. This was even more appreciated since they were risking hurricane evacuation traffic doing this. Luckily there wasn't any.
Jill blowing bubbles with Daniel

Renee joins in on the action
Then everyone joined in on the trampoline
Taylor and Daniel didn't so much jump as run in circles, slamming into each other every once in a while.

Then, tragedy struck!
Alex decided to climb onto the trampoline, outside of the netting (ummm... why did we buy that netting?) and Ian thought it would be funny to push him (clearly a 6 yr. old doesn't think through that all the way). Alex fell face first, hurt himself but also his pride. Ian spent a while in his room and Alex sulked a large portion of the party after that.

Darren comforting Alex (they look like twins)
Now it is dinner time. No gourmet meals. Just spaghetti (Hey it is a messy party)
Along with some garlic bread, fruits and vegetables.

Then the real fun begins! We brought out the cookies, some icing, some food coloring, sprinkles and let them decorate their own cookies.

Renee so carefully put icing and yellow food coloring. It looked like she was eating mustard. So cute and so neat.
Here is Alex beginning his work of art. He put more crap (excuse my french) on that cookie than you can imagine. Piles of icing and all the food coloring and all the sprinkles. It was making me gag just looking at it.
Daniel is decorating his cookie.
Yummmm... Eat up.
And then they all looked like this-
Sally, I heard you check my blog in hopes of seeing glimpses of your grandchild so here she is in all her glory!

Ian my love with his blue teeth
and the piece de resistance...

How disgusting is that? Alex looks like a vampire that just sucked some one's blood or a kid that went to blows with Mike Tyson. Like I said, the cookie was really disgusting!
This is when it started to rain so we ran inside (praying no one was too dirty to be in the house).
Then it was time to open presents. Daniel was tentative at the beginning but wow did he get into opening those presents. Ripping them open and then moving on to the next fabulous gift.

He is now having so much fun with his gifts! Thanks to everyone who came and all those who didn't but sent gifts anyway. We are really enjoying ourselves.

Tomorrow, however, is our 2 yr. old check up with shots and all that funness. Say a prayer for us.

Looks like a great party! Wish we could have been there. Was Jody there? Trent and Mark? Meme?

What ever happened to the video of Darren pumping up the horse? I am dying to see that. Also, I think Riley and Daniel are looking very similar!
